He is a mixed-media artist working with found imagery, textiles, and painting processes, including image and solvent transfers. His practice explores how we inhabit and interpret the visual landscape of everyday life, uncovering the fragmented nature of personal memory and identity. Through repetition, layering, and distortion, Merle embraces ambiguity – an approach rooted in his experience of living with epilepsy.
Merle has exhibited both nationally and abroad in numerous group shows, this year so far participating in the group exhibitions August Sundays (Pipeline Gallery, online), Paradoxical Field: Prelude I (Purist Gallery), Only Shallow (Lee Scully x TWO-PLUS-TWO), and Full Disclosure (D Contemporary), all in London. His work is featured in Artists, a publication by Brynley Odu Davies in collaboration with Guts Gallery, alongside other emerging artists. Merle graduated with a degree in Graphic Communication from Bath Spa University in 2021.
