Motunrayo Akinola (b. 1992) is a sculptor and installation artist. His work explores themes of class, access and a sense of belonging. The work, made primarily from cardboard, tape and shellac; considering an architectural sensitivity to our contemporary social environment, is part of a post-colonial dialogue guided by conversations of care, collective memory and politics of hierarchy.
Motunrayo Akinola holds a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from the University of East London, 2017 and completed his postgraduate diploma at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, 2023. Recent residencies include; the South London Gallery Postgraduate Residency, London, 2024, High House Artist Residency, Norfolk, 2024.
