Please join us at Palmer Gallery on the Friday evening of Frieze week in London, for a two act musical peformance using the works from our current exhibition - 'Ex-Voto' by Shaan Bevan and Owen Pratt - as speakers.
Artist duo Shaan Bevan and Owen Pratt have created their own brass paintings which are able to conduct sound waves via resonators attached to the back, essentially functioning as speakers. As the brass reverberates with the sound waves, the surface of the painting moves and shimmers, creating a unique audio-visual experience.
Performing on the night are Simina Oprescu and Kenichi Iwasa. Simina Oprescu is a Romanian composer and sound artist focused on electroacoustic music. Her work merges analog synthesizers, computer music, and field recordings to create immersive soundscapes, exploring psychoacoustics and spatial arts. She has presented her compositions at venues like EVA International, Museum Tinguely, and n.b.k. Berlin. In 2020, she joined the SHAPE+ platform, with features in Positionen and The Wire.
Kenichi Iwasa is a London based improviser and multidisciplinary artist from Japan, also known for his legendary Krautrock Karaoke night, and collaborations with visual artists and musicians such as Beatrice Dillon, Maxwell Sterling and Linder Sterling.
The event is free to attend but tickets must be booked in advance (see link below). Doors will open at 7:30pm, performances will begin at 8pm.
