Controversial AI Photo Comes To The Market

One year after the German artist Boris Eldagsen won — and then turned down — the Sony World Photography Award for a work he subsequently revealed was made using AI, London’s Palmer Gallery has an edition of the winning image on sale for €20,000. It’s the first time that “Pseudomnesia: The Electrician” (2022) has been on the London market, confirms gallery co-founder Will Hainsworth.

Eldagsen’s work is part of Post-Photography: The Uncanny Valley (to May 17), alongside Nouf Aljowaysir and Ben Millar Cole; their pieces all open up questions about the relationship between artist and machine. Other prices are far below Eldagsen’s print (up to €7,000).
