Born in Dallas, Texas in 1997 and raised in the small farm town of Orange City, Iowa, De Jong studied classical painting and sculpture in Florence, Italy, before earning his MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art in London. He currently lives and works between London, United Kingdom, and New York City, United States.
De Jong’s work has been exhibited internationally, including presentations in New York, London, Florence, Tokyo, and Karlsruhe. His exhibitions range from sacred and historic sites to major art institutions, including the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, ZKM Center for Art and Media in Germany, the Brant Foundation in New York, and the Asylum Chapel in London.
De Jong’s practice centers on the transformation and reinterpretation of cultural symbols. Drawing from American nationalism, religious iconography, and pop culture, he uses abstraction as a tool to reconfigure meaning. His work confronts inherited narratives and invites new ways of seeing. Through material, process, and form, he constructs a visual language of tension, belief, and becoming.
